Hey, Wildcats! My name is Danielle Glymph, and I am so excited to join the second grade team at LME! I am originally from West Virginia but have called Newberry County home for the past 24 years. I am a graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. I earned my Bachelors in Elementary Education from Newberry College and my Masters in Education from Columbia College. I have spent the last 8 years teaching at Newberry Middle School. I am very excited to start my ninth year teaching on "the mountain".
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Ashley, and I live in Prosperity with our son Gabe. We enjoy going to the lake, hanging out by the pool, playing with our 2 spoiled dogs Nala and Jasper, and most importantly just spending time making memories together.
I am looking forward to a great year at LME and cannot wait to get to know my amazing 2nd grade Wildcats! I look forward to making lasting memories as we learn, grow and become lifelong leaders.

A parent/guardian toolkit for reopening has been shared by our district and is linked below. This toolkit has been developed to provide information to parents/guardians to help you understand the health practices that will be put in place when students return to school. It will be important for all of us to work together to help decrease the spread of the virus.
Review and revision of this document will be completed as new guidance is received.

20-21 SDNC Opening Options

20-21 SDNC Calendar

Parents of students in the School District of Newberry County are asked to complete one questionnaire per child to determine how they would like their child to return to school for the 2020-2021 school year. Option 1 allows parents the choice of sending their child to school on a Hybrid schedule – meeting in person 2 days per week and eLearning 3 days per week. Option 2 is for parents who wish to have their child participate in the Newberry ONE Institute for eLearning, a completely online option for a semester at a time.
The questionnaire can be found at https://bit.ly/SDNCLearningPref and must be submitted prior to midnight on July 28, 2020.

The Student Environmental Education Coalition (SEEC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a commitment to improving environmental literacy and a board composed of students from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham. SEEC is now in its 8th year of hosting NatureWay, a free, annual summer camp where K-5 kids have the opportunity to learn about topics relevant to environmental science, climate change, and sustainability.
In lieu of our in-person camp traditionally held at the Chapel Hill Public Library, this year we will be holding a series of online video education sessions via Zoom from July 20th-24th, July 27th-31st, and August 3rd-7th. There will be topics taught by our high school and college counselors every day of the week, ranging from renewable energy, to ecology, to water pollution, and more! The calls each day will run from 2:00pm-3:30pm EST and 4:00pm-5:00pm EST. Because of this format, we do not have restrictions on the number of campers or their locations, so we would like to extend this opportunity to students outside of the Chapel Hill area.
More information about this program can be found at https://www.ncseec.org/natureway2020. The link to register for NatureWay is: tinyurl.com/natureway2020.

2020 Newberry County Library System Summer Reading Program

Several students from Little Mountain Elementary were among the nearly 160,000 students worldwide to participate in the Math Olympiad Program. They participated in a series of five monthly contest of 5 problems from November to March, and weekly practice sessions under the supervision and coaching of Ms. Jordan Suber. She taught the children to solve unusual and difficult problems and to think creatively.
The following students have been awarded an embroidered felt patch for scoring in the top 50% of all the participants.
Congratulations Wildcats!! We are proud of you!
